Making a design forum is like making pasta - how hard can it be, right? Eggs, Maida, oil, water, yeast, a sprinkle of salt here, a little kneading there - sounds easy, right? Well, not so easy. There is so much that can go wrong and there are so many things to keep in mind. So many people and so many aspects to take care of. Any step skipped or done out of order could ruin everything.
It begins with separating the dry and the wet ingredients – just like dividing teams. This becomes the most crucial part. Once the teams are formed, each does its work, like yeast quietly producing carbon dioxide. When all the elements are ready, they’re brought together – slowly, not all at once. Bit by bit, a framework starts to take shape. Then comes the kneading, a lot of it. And just like dough needs rest, the forum needs time and space to grow. It finally begins to become something.
A design forum, like this process, requires a lot of work, time, and dedication. Without those, it’s almost impossible to make. Once it’s all done, you have the dough ready, the water is boiled - it all comes down to that one moment: the moment the pasta hits the water. The moment the participants finally engage with the design experiment. Let’s be honest, it’s either going to be the best pasta in the world, or it’s going to be flawed. But either way, it’s going to be something. And no matter what happens, you’ll have learned something along the way.
And at the end of the day, you can always say:
“I learned how to make pasta - or well … a design forum!”
