KVDF 2021
Theme : (inter)dependencies
The processes which create, alter and dismantle the built environment, are layered by multiple influences forming a complex ecosystem. These influences include but are not limited to political, social, ecological, and economic aspects

Within this system lie various entities, eg, communities (professional/ non- professional), flora and fauna, natural resources etc. These entities use various methods and agencies, ranging from local to global; existing to potential; introspective to outward- looking, thus forming a web of (inter) dependencies.

With an increase in the discourse on collaboration, it becomes necessary for the professional to assess their standing in this web. In what capacity does the role played by an architect (as a negotiator, facilitator, curator, etc. ) affect their position in this web? What (inter) dependencies exist in your project? What position do you hold through your project?

In this light KVDF'21 invites final year projects that have speculated or have the potential to speculate the ways in which the architect reimagines their responsibility to the profession and to the built environment. Participants are invited to reflect within their project, and define their positions and architectural responses through this lens.
