About CEPT
The Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT), previously known as the ‘School of Architecture’ was established in Ahmedabad, India, in 1962. It was founded and designed by Pritzker Prize laureate Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi, who envisioned it as a space for collaborative dialogues and multidisciplinary learning in architecture and planning.
What is KVDF?
Founded in the memory of Professor Kurula Varkey, a former Director of the School of Architecture and a prominent figure in the institution's pedagogical reforms, the forum brings together students from various architectural schools, academicians, and practitioners from around the world. Discussions are organized around selected final-year student projects and the forum extends the scope of these projects by facilitating conversations on larger concerns relevant to the architectural fraternity.

The forum has been graced by personalities like BV Doshi, Lucien Kroll, Juhani Pallasmaa, Peter Rich, William Curtis, Charles Correa, Tatiana Bilbao, Channa Daswatte, Palinda Kannangara, to name a few. KVDF 2024 marks the 23rd year in continuing the legacy of the forum with an invigorated spirit to discuss, debate, and delineate pressing questions in architecture today.
We invite undergraduate final-year student projects from various architecture schools across South Asia to submit their entries and be a part of the Kurula Varkey Design Forum 2024.
