Shweta Bagh

Shweta Wagh is an urban conservationist, academic and educator. She is an Assistant Professor at KRVIA and a founding member of the Collective for Spatial Alternatives (CSA), an advocacy planning and research collective based in Mumbai. Her research interests include urban studies, heritage discourses and political ecology. Over the last decade she has worked with various communities and collectives on urban and environmental issues. Some of her previous work involves understanding indigenous perspectives towards conservation in the Kanchendzonga region in Sikkim, documenting socio-ecological practices and conflicts over livelihood commons of the fisher community in Mumbai, facilitating participatory planning initiatives, and developing frameworks for community oriented up-gradation or self development of urban villages and informal settlements. She frequently writes in the popular press on urban planning and policy issues.
