This thesis aims at designing a template (collective design technique) that can be superimposed on any residential development (villa, apartment, group housing etc.) devoid of financial, luxury, cultural, social limitations. Modifications that can be done in a community level to make it inclusive followed by changes as site and building level will bring about a comfortable, luxurious and a secure living atmosphere for all sections of the society. At the community level, the connection between varied spaces the access, nodes, edges, paths etc. will be understood in depth and the design will incorporate techniques to make it inclusive.

Environment: A typical community living set up is self-sufficient and secure. The general locality is in that section where all commercial, business establishments and residential development begin to merge. One side of the unit faces on the principal street of the city and this would be devoted to general business concerns. A theater and a business block, penetrated by an arcade, would serve both the residents of the unit and the general public. But how inclusive is every design to cater to the needs of every individual whether they are challenged or not. There is a need to diversify the environment.

Social life:  Various elements such as street, parks and playgrounds and such informal recreation areas serve as social blocks and how these elements work well for all sections of the society.

At building level, various modifications have to be made in the specifications such as material pallet so that luxury isn’t lost for an individual and at the same time these elements will be of functional importance for a person who is challenged.

Private space (villa/apartment): A design recognizes that everyone who uses a house is different and comes with different abilities that change over time. The living unit includes features that meet the needs of a person with a disability and is designed to be adapted economically at a later date to accommodate someone with a disability yet creating a luxurious atmosphere to live in.
