Himanshu Burte

Himanshu Burte is an architect and urbanist teaching at IIT Bombay. He recently edited a special issue of Marg titled Infrastructure as space: Development and its (Dis)Contents (2019), and co-edited a book (with Amita Bhide) titled Urban Parallax: Policy and the City in Contemporary India (2018). His first book Space for Engagement (2008) proposed a new conceptual framework for architecture centred on the act of dwelling. He researches urban infrastructure, contemporary architecture, and subaltern placemaking through the lenses of spatial justice, structural violence and sustainable urbanism.
