Surya completed his diploma in architecture from the School of Architecture, Vallabh Vidya Nagar and did his masters in architecture from the University of California, Los Angeles. He travelled widely across India, South-East Asia, Japan, Mexico, America, Europe and China to explore the relationships between materials, culture, space and sustainability. He has been a visiting faculty/critic at various institutes such as CEPT, NID, Ahmedabad, NIASA juries etc. and considers these interactions extremely important in forming the course of the practice. The practice focuses on issues concerning sustainability, appropriateness and conservation of resources. Some notable works of the practice include Anand Niketan School, Ahmedabad; Computer Center C.N. Vidyalaya, Ahmedabad, The Madhu Industries Corporate Office, Ahmedabad, the Public Library & Conference Center, Hyderabad and Care Institute of Medical Sciences, Ahmedabad. His works have been acknowledged and published in various journals and conferences.
