Shubhra Raje

Shubhra RajeĀ is an architect and educator, working in environments that engage diverse issues, multiple constituencies and varying scales: from interior design and architecture to creative urbanism and conservation. Shubhra has been actively involved in the civic, educational and cultural arena in both her bases in the United States and India, on commissions for neighborhood groups and community non-profits, as well as conducting design studios and workshops that encourage young designers to become active in issues of social justice and cultural patrimony. Some of her more recent projects involve culturally and environmentally contested sites in the peri-urban neighborhoods of Denver (USA), Abydos (Egypt), Jharsuguda (India) and two cartographic essays; one, on the memories and mechanization of the Colorado River system and the other on the habits and cultures around food, play and celebration within immigrant populations in the Denver metro region.
