Verendra Wakhloo

Verendra Wakhloo is the owner of the Matra Architects and Rurban Planners, New Delhi. Around 30 years ago, he left Germany to set up his practice in India, inspired by Indian Architects Correa, Doshi and Jain- he discovered the curious case of Indian city -a place that pretended to be urban but was rural at its core, hence his initial work involved a search for an Indian identity. Over the years, Matra has created several landmarks across the country. Leading to a synthesis through 'a dialogue' he attempts to move from the known to the unknown for his work, in search of 'timeless principles'.
